FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ™

Introducing the WEMBACK™ Scholarship Fund

Pennsauken, NJ — November 27, 2025 — Quarantine Racism Educational Services (QRES) proudly announces the launch of the WEMBACK™ Scholarship Fund, a new family-anchored initiative created to honor the legacy, values, and sacrifice of six influential ancestors whose initials form the acronym WEMBACK™: Warren, Elvin, Mary, Bettie, Alexander, and Cora, and Kenneth. The WEMBACK™ Scholarship Fund strengthens the community’s commitment to educational equity by providing financial support for Black students pursuing academic excellence, leadership, and community impact.

Rooted in the belief that Black Learners Matter Too, the WEMBACK™ Scholarship Fund reflects QRES’s long-standing mission to close opportunity gaps and promote culturally responsive education. The scholarship will be awarded annually to high-potential students demonstrating academic promise, personal resilience, and a commitment to lifting their communities.

A Legacy of Strength, A Vision for the Future

Each letter in WEMBACK™ represents a pillar of ancestral love, endurance, and perseverance. As part of the initiative, QRES will introduce a “WEMBACK™ Family Tree” and share a brief legacy statement for each ancestor, ensuring that the spirit of their journey continues to inspire future generations.

“The WEMBACK™ Scholarship Fund is more than financial support—it is a living tribute,” said Dr. Derrick Campbell, Founder and CEO of Quarantine Racism Educational Services. “It honors the ancestors who paved the way and invests in the young people who will carry our communities forward.”

A Unique Family-Centered Model

Unlike traditional scholarship programs, the WEMBACK™ Scholarship Fund includes a WEMBACK™ Ambassador Circle, allowing family members, supporters, and community leaders to participate in outreach, fundraising, and student support. Ambassadors help expand access, share the mission, and cultivate a culture of giving rooted in heritage and community pride.

For students under the age of 18, applications will include a required parental or caregiver signature, reinforcing family involvement and support at every step.

Application & Eligibility

Students will be able to apply through the official WEMBACK™ Scholarship Application Portal on the QRES website. Applicants will answer short-response questions, provide evidence of academic standing, and describe how they will use their education to drive equity, leadership, or positive change.

A dedicated page on the QRES website will outline:

  • Application requirements
  • Submission deadlines
  • Ambassador Circle sign-up form
  • Ways for sponsors to contribute
  • Stories of the ancestors behind the acronym WEMBACK™

Expanding Access Through Community Sponsorship

Local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and individual partners will be invited to become WEMBACK™ Scholarship Sponsors. A gold-accented “Official Sponsor” badge—matching QRES’s royal blue and forest green brand palette—will be featured for partners who commit financial support.

Sponsors contribute directly to:

  • Annual scholarship awards
  • Student leadership development
  • Parent and community engagement programming
  • Expansion of the Black Learners Matter Too initiative
