The Big Idea – Purpose Is Found in Progress

Absolute value tells us the distance from zero. In schools, it can also show how far test scores are from equity goals. God cares when some students are left further behind than others.

Math + Faith Example

Equity Goal Score: 80%

• Group A Average = 76%
  Distance = |80 – 76| = 4 points
• Group B Average = 68%
  Distance = |80 – 68| = 12 points

The bigger the distance, the harder it is for some students to reach the goal. God calls us to notice those gaps and work for fairness.
