The Big Idea – Filled to Pour Out

Big Idea

Volume measures how much space a 3D shape can hold. In housing, volume helps us understand the space families live in and how many people share a building. Housing density affects quality of life: overcrowded areas may cause stress, while fair housing supports peace. God desires balance and dignity for all people in their living spaces.

Math + Faith Example

Apartment Building A:

  • 10 units, each 20 ft × 30 ft × 10 ft
  • Volume per unit = 20 × 30 × 10 = 6,000 cubic ft
  • Total volume = 10 × 6,000 = 60,000 cubic ft

House B:

  • 1 unit, 40 ft × 30 ft × 10 ft
  • Volume = 40 × 30 × 10 = 12,000 cubic ft

Building A holds more people but with less space per family.

Scripture Connections

  • Psalm 133:1 (KJV): “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
  • Proverbs 21:3 (KJV): “To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”
