About Hannah Karcinell

Hannah is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Western Massachusetts Policy Center, where she continues to shape conversations on policy and activism. She has consistently advocated for diversity and inclusion in various capacities throughout her career. From mentoring peers as a Diversity Fellow at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, to her research and grassroots work at TurnUp Activism and Clean Water Action, Hannah has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to equity and social justice.

Her extensive experience includes civic engagement, activism research, and public policy work. Whether it was organizing events with the founders of Change the Ref or advocating for crime survivors at the Crime Survivors for Safety & Justice convention, Hannah has continuously pushed for meaningful change.

A Champion for Educational Equity

Hannah’s journey in education is equally impressive. During her time as a Diversity Fellow for Remedying Inequity through Student Engagement (RISE), she mentored students from marginalized backgrounds, ensuring they were aware of the resources available to them. Maria Sidibe is a dedicated professional with a profound commitment to human rights, climate justice, and the cannabis industry. With nine years of diverse experience, she has made significant contributions across various sectors, including administrative assistance, operations management, events and sales management, and social media management.

Currently, as an Outreach Specialist for the NYC Department of Sanitation, Maria facilitates business transitions to comply with new regulatory frameworks under the Commercial Waste Zones initiative. Her previous role as Community Engagement Manager at BFC Partners involved managing community events, conducting environmental inspections, and securing funding for community-focused programs.

At Queens College Center for Career Engagement and Internships, Maria developed impactful digital strategies, managed communications, and enhanced the online visibility of career initiatives. Her work with Big Reuse as a Queens Climate Justice Fellow included researching climate change impacts on marginalized communities, advocating for equitable policies, and developing a comprehensive business plan for a Repair Cafe.

Maria has organized numerous community outreach events for the NYC Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit, connecting residents with essential city services and boosting engagement through creative use of social media. Her efforts in social justice extend to her time at The Alex House Project, where she created educational campaigns on COVID-19 vaccines and built trust within Brooklyn communities.

In her role with Models For Change Now, Maria increased social media engagement and supported fashion events, highlighting significant contributions of Black designers. As a Direct Support Professional at Braverhood, she provided comprehensive support for individuals’ development, demonstrating her passion for mental and behavioral health care.

Maria’s experience as an Enumerator for the U.S. Census Bureau involved gathering and documenting demographic data, contributing to a more accurate representation of the population. At Cee Cee’s Closet NYC, she optimized production processes, managed event logistics, and consistently surpassed sales targets at major festivals and pop-up shops.

During her tenure as a First-Year Fellow at The New School, Maria supported students’ academic progress and personal development through individual meetings and workshops. Her administrative skills were honed as a Legal Assistant at Chi Yim Siu Attorney At Law, where she provided essential support and maintained organized case files.

Maria’s extensive skill set includes community outreach, climate change impact analysis, project management, event management, social media marketing, strategic communications, customer experience, data entry, and legal assistance. Her career reflects a deep passion for driving positive change and nurturing meaningful community connections, making her a dynamic force.
